does couchbase support hybrid cluster which means some nodes on-premise and some nodes on the cloud.

We support a hybrid cluster by having two separate Couchbase clusters connected through cross datacenter replication between the private and public cloud. A single Couchbase cluster spanning or spread across the private and public cloud is not recommended and supported.
Our production guidelines and recommendation is a single Couchbase cluster deployed within a data center or across multiple zones within a region using rack/zone-awareness.
Network latency is one of the reasons, but there are many other reasons, such as network bandwidth and resilience, which can adversely affect Couchbase availability and performance.
