I have a 1 node CB cluster whose RAM is 1Gb and a bucket whose memory quota is 512MB. If I assign Data service memory quota as 512 MB, what does it mean here? 512 for bucket memory and 512 for data service or 512 is whole for bucket and data service.

From the docs here
Note that the Data Service must run on at least one node; and that on each of those nodes, quotas for buckets, specified at the time of bucket-creation, are subtracted from the quota allocated to the Data Service.
The Data service memory quota is shared by all the buckets in the cluster.
If you assign the entire memory to a single bucket, you will not be able to create additional buckets without deleting the existing bucket.
