Upgrade from 4.5.1 to 5.0 fails on Windows (Community)

I have one instance (4.5.1-2845 Community Edition) on Windows Server 2012 64-bit and tried to upgrade to version 5.0 (Community Edition).

Unfortunately the setup process starts but suddenly does a rollback and says the installation ended prematurely without giving any error code or message.
I’ve run the setup as local administrator and run it also using a command prompt window with elevated rights.

Any ideas?

From the 5.0 release notes: Couchbase SDKs

For Windows, .exe installers which were previously deprecated are now removed and replaced with industry-standard MSI installer files. Consequently, any upgrade for the Windows platform from pre-5.0 version to 5.0 will need to be done in a rolling upgrade fashion. See Performing the Rolling Online Upgrade for details.
